HYDRA DPF-24 FEATURES AND ADVANTAGES
- Formulated to regenerate the filter by clearing away blocking soot in the DPF soot is burnt off, leaving only a tiny ash residue.
- Avoids the high cost of repair bills from clogged particle filter by garage, no need to remove DPF, simply add DPF-24 to fuel system and drive as normal.
- By cleaning DPF on a regular basis, restores and enhances engine performance and restores proper fuel combustion thereby reducing fuel consumption.
- Highly suitable for vehicles driven in city traffic and short journeys, lowers the temperature by 150ºC that DPF will regenerate.
- A cleaned DPF, reduces harmful emissions of incomplete combustion particulates.
USAGE: DPF FILTER CLEANING
Add to fuel tank that has a minimum of 10 litres, 250ml will treat up to 60 litres of diesel fuel. Drive normally for 20 minutes, driving at high revs in a low gear might be required with very soot blockages. Treat every 2,000 to 6,000 miles (depending on frequency of soot blockage).
DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER CLEANER
A DPF or Diesel Particulate Filter is a device integral to the operation of the exhaust emission control system.
It captures particulate matter and hydrocarbons, stores them, and every so often a process of regeneration occurs where these deposits and particulates are burned off, converted to ash and CO2 which is vented out the exhaust.
THE PROBLEM WITH YOUR DESIEL PARTICUALTE FILTER
There are many factors contributing to the clogging of your DPF. It can be the quality of the fuel, the quality of the engine oil or can also be driving style and journey type.
Diesel engines in particular are not designed for short journeys or stop-start driving and such conditions create an excess of particulate matter in the emission control components. That means that the DPF as well as other parts such as catalytic convertor gets clogged.
Many low cetane fuels also increase engine deposits resulting in more smoke, increased exhaust emissions and greater engine wear.
Diesel engines can produce black soot or more specifically diesel particulate matter from their exhaust.
The black smoke consists of carbon compounds that have not burned because of local low temperatures when the fuel is not fully atomised.
HYDRA DPF CLEANER SOLUTION
Soot build-up in a DPF has to be burned off on a regular basis. Your vehicle normally does this automatically in a process called ‘regeneration': this occurs during normal driving at high exhaust temperatures, normally on fast roads such as motorways or dual carriageways.
When this happens the soon gets burned off, leaving an exceedingly small amount of ash in the DPF.
These ash deposits are not removed and stay in the diesel particle filter, slowly building up over time. Eventually the DPF will need to be removed by a garage and cleaned using specialist equipment. However, if your regeneration system is working, it should be good for over 100,000 miles.
However, depending on many factors, some vehicles do not have the correct conditions for passive regeneration. In these cases, vehicle sensors measure that the filter is getting blocked, so they start active regeneration and automatically inject extra fuel into the engine, this raises your exhaust temperature a regeneration cycle occurs.
During most vehicles’ engine cycle, active regeneration occurs approximately every 300 miles and takes 5 to 10 minutes, this however will depend on your particular driving style during this period.
Common factors that occur during active regeneration.
- The engine sounds louder and has a faster idle speed.
- Your fuel consumption increases.
- The exhaust is much hotter with an acrid smell.
- Your engine cooling fans are running.
- In a modern car the automatic stop/start function does not work
WHAT A DPF CLEANER COULD COST YOU IF NOT CLEANED
This warning light indicates that your DPF is blocked, usually you can clear this light by activating an active regeneration cycle by driving at over 40mph for 10-15 minutes.
If ignored your car will eventually go into limp mode to prevent engine damage. When in limp mode it is important to act fast.
Driving at speed may not be enough, you should add a DPF cleaner immediately. If left to late, a garage may be able to do a forced regeneration or failing that the DPF.
In extreme cases they may have to have a garage remove the filter and clean it using specialised equipment, this is often an expensive option compared to the cost of a bottle of DPF Cleaner expensive option.
DPF CLEANER DIESEL FUEL
Hydra DPF-24 DPF Cleaner Is formulated to regenerate DPF by clearing away blocking soot in the combustion exhaust, it overcomes the problems when passive DPF systems have too low an exhaust temperature to start the regeneration process.
Rising exhaust back pressure has a negative impact on the engine and leads to warning indicators to the driver.
The regeneration process occurs at road speeds higher than can generally be attained on city streets; vehicles driven exclusively at low speeds in urban traffic can require periodic trips at higher speeds to clean out the DPF.
If the driver ignores the warning light and waits too long to operate the vehicle above 40 miles per hour (64 km/h), the DPF may not regenerate properly, and continued operation past that point may contaminated the DPF completely so it must be replaced.
Some newer diesel engines, namely those installed in combination vehicles, can also perform what is called a Parked Regeneration, where the engine increases RPM to around 1400 while parked, to increase the temperature of the exhaust.
New particulate filters can capture from 30% to greater than 95% of the harmful soot. With an optimal diesel particulate filter (DPF), soot emissions may be decreased to 0.001 g/km or less.
THE BEST DPF CLEANER WITH LOW TEMPERATURE CATALYST
Hydra DPF-24 DPF Cleaner actually lowers the ignition temperature of soot collected in the DPF by 150ºC and therefore supports periodic filter regeneration.
This product overcomes the problems when passive DPF systems have too low an exhaust temperature to start the regeneration process. Rising exhaust back pressure has a negative impact on the engine and leads to warning indicators to the driver.
PROTECTIVE CATAYLST COATING
After removing soot formation Hydra DPF-24 DPF Additive leaves a microscopic catalyst soot burning coating on all components.
This coating helps keep the diesel particle filters and exhaust gas return valves clean in the future.
KEY BENEFITS TO USING A DPF CLEANER
